February 2024 Newsletter

‘Paris comes to Penketh’ competition

Our annual club competition for all levels is taking place on the weekend of 20/21 April. You will receive a separate email with information about which day your child is doing and how to book. Please let us know if you have any further questions about the competition when you have read the email from Catherine.

Holiday clubs

We have a few holiday clubs over half term. They are;

Monday 12th and Friday 16th February – 10am-3.30pm – award scheme, fun and games, apparatus work and floor skills covered in the day. Lunch is 12.30-1pm. Children can also just attend the morning (10am-12.30pm) or afternoon (1-3.30pm) sessions.

Booking is now open via LoveAdmin (in ‘courses’). Please see our posters in the gym and on social media for more information.

Judging

We are hoping to recruit some new judges. For every competition we enter, we need to submit a judge for that day. At the moment, we are having to ask the same people to give up their time so our gymnasts can still participate. We are holding an introduction to judging session on Friday 9th February at 6pm. This is a chance for you to learn more about what is involved from some of our existing judges. You will also have the chance to watch some squad gymnasts’ routines to see what judges are looking for. Please let me know if you are interested in attending the session.

Grades competitions

Some of our squad gymnasts are taking part in NW grades in February and March. We’ve already had 7 gymnasts take part in a precomp at The Wire, Ace of Grades. Lots of awards were earned as well as Ava achieving 2nd on bars and Abigail coming 3rd on vault.  In February, we have 5 competing in NW grades on 3rd/4th February and 1 in the NW competition on 18th February. At the end of February, 4 of our gymnasts are doing a competition at The Wire in preparation for their NW grades competition at the end of March. Good luck to everyone taking part!

GymFusion

Our fantastic GymFusion team are taking part in GymFusion NW at The Lowry on 18th February. They are in the 11am show. You can buy tickets to watch them at https://thelowry.com/whats-on/gymfusion-2024/

Welfare Officer

We currently have a welfare officer, Elizabeth Patten. While she is doing an excellent job, we would like to have a second welfare officer to support her in this role. You would need to complete an online course, unless you already have a safeguarding qualification recognized by British Gymnastics. You would also need to be someone who is often in the gym, so it would be great if we can have someone who’s child is in more than once a week. If you think you can help, please email me on info@penkethgymnastics.co.uk.
